Under optimum growing conditions, plants synthesize their own L-amino acids. Tissue and Soil Testing

NIR tissue nutrient analysis. Soil testing for physical properties, chemistry and microbiological assays.

Redox have developed a protocol for soil testing based on both Base Saturation and Paste Extract that not only shows what is totally in the soil but also what of that reserve is available to the plant. This protocol generates about 3 times the data-points created in a standard soil test. This data is then fed into a software program that Redox developed that both creates the reports but, more importantly, assesses the suitability of nutrients for use on that location based on several criteria . solubility, salt load, acidification quality etc . and gives them a ranking on a 1 -10 scale, 1 being "don't waste your money."

The analysis also looks at things like total cation / anion ratio and other key ratios. The program covers all the commodity products as well as some more exotic options. Products can them be picked to fill the nutrient needs based on the ranking. At the same time the combination of products being picked to fill the program is also being rated for compatibility and suitability. Using this resource it is possible to optimize budgets by ensuring that whatever program is developed not only recognizes the key agronomic issues but wherever possible addresses those needs with commodity products.

A relatively recent development which further refines this process is the "Priorities Report" which, again based on the testing protocol, highlights the 20 or so key issues that come out of the analysis and ranks them for importance and indicates how much of an issue each factor is by how far across the page the bar chart goes. Using this report it is easy for the superintendent, in situations where budget limits are an issue or time, crew or equipment is limited, to pick the biggest issues and address them first.
